“HS” Physical + Digital Sales Surpass 20 million
According to a new Yahoo! Japan article, sales for Utada’s 5th original album, “HEART STATION,” continue at a high pace. This is Utada’s first album to surpass the shipment of a previous album release, with “HEART STATION” shipping 1.16 million units (1.12 in Japan, 40K overseas) compared to “ULTRA BLUE”s 1.15 million (1.1 in Japan, 50K overseas). Additionally, combined physical and digital sales/shipments for the album (including singles + the album) on “HEART STATION” have surpassed the 20 million mark. “HEART STATION” #1 @ Half Yearly Amazon Japan
Amazon Japan has released their 2008 Half Yearly music ranking, and Utada’s latest album, “HEART STATION,” comes in at #1. The album, released in March, beats out such top charters as EXILE’s “EXILE CATCHY BEST” and Perfume’s “GAME.”

Utada @ “Last Friends” Wrap Party
According to Japanese news reports, Utada attended the recent wrap party for Japanese drama “Last Friends.” Utada’s “Prisoner Of Love” was used as the theme song to the popular Fuji TV drama, which ended its run with a viewership rating of 22.8% for the series finale. Utada performed multiple songs (only one Utada original; the rest were said to be covers), including “Prisoner Of Love” with piano accompaniment from “Last Friends” actress Ueno Juri.
